" We see in order to move; we move in order to see." - William Gibson
Yoga first came into Jeff Boyd's life as a way to rehabilitate from injuries. Although he was born with a clubbed foot, Jeff was highly active in rugby in his youth, until a ruptured Achilles tendon on the field forced him to slow down and listen to his body. During his recovery process, Jeff found yoga, and soon thereafter began his path towards becoming a teacher.
Believing that balance is a verb, not an adjective, Jeff is a teacher who encourages students to find the things needed to support themselves in any given moment of life and of practice, and to stay present in those moments of investigation. Informed by his injuries and his early limitations, Jeff firmly advocates that yoga can and should be accessible to all; he emphasizes the use of approachable language, safe alignment, and an expansive knowledge of movement to meet the needs of his students, regardless of their level.
Mix equal parts breath, curiosity, strength, and compassion, and you will have discovered the recipe that forms Jeff’s yoga practice. A full-time teacher in Vancouver, BC, with regular classes at Moksha Yoga, The Hive, and Spartacus, Jeff leads dynamic, well-rounded classes, that help to unfold his students’ inner strength and mindfulness. He is currently also in charge of teacher mentorship at Moksha Yoga Vancouver, and previously founded the Teacher Peer Development program at Karma Teachers in Gastown. As a highly reliable and sought-after teacher, Jeff enjoys travelling around North America teaching a wide variety of classes, and makes regular visits to Moksha/Modo Vancouver, Kelowna, Squamish, Saskatoon, Seattle, and Portland. He can occasionally be found making guest appearances at a number of other studios throughout the Vancouver area, and enjoys leading yoga seminars at various festivals in the summer.
Jeff has been living mostly waste-free for many years, and teaches workshops on Zero-Waste living. His goal is to educate himself and others on how to best care for themselves and the world around them.
